My art centres around the basic elements of design, colour, shape and type. The classic principles of design used in the work are informed by my professional training as a graphic & package designer, but the complexity and depth weaved within the pieces are rooted in my personal experiences. 

 

I never give myself a strict vision of what a piece will be.  After applying layers and layers on a blank canvas the work tends to reveal itself to me. I don’t choose colours before I start because I love discovering where the paint will unexpectedly take me. Colours can complement and contrast each other and I am especially fascinated by the emotions that unconventional combinations can evoke. 

 

My goal is that my paintings engage every viewer and inspire them to find their own personal connection within the layers.
